National Honor Society's 2nd Annual Clear the ShelterThe National Honor Society at Nacogdoches High School will hold its second annual “Clear the Shelter” pet adoption event that will take place at Nacogdoches Animal Shelter 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 7. The shelter is located at 3211 SW Stallings Drive in Nacogdoches.

The adoption push is in conjunction with the Altice Connects Charity Champions community initiative. Altice Charity Champions contests promote volunteerism and help students raise money for the charity of their choice.

Nacogdoches High School students have been raising money and collecting donations for months to benefit the animal shelter. The goal for the Nacogdoches event is to have all the animals housed in the shelter to find “forever homes” the week of April 7.

The community is invited to join the fun at the Clear the Shelter event. Families can enjoy free snow cones, popcorn and hot dogs on April 7.

NHS students will have informational pamphlets available for adults and children on how to care for animals, and educational sessions will be held where new owners can learn how to care for their pet.
