February Spotlight Student of the Month: Katelyn CouteeThe Spotlight Student of the Month is Katelyn Coutee. Katelyn is a senior at Nacogdoches High School. She is a native East Texan. She was born in Nacogdoches, Texas. She has spent her entire scholastic career in NISD.

She is the daughter of Mrs. Heather Blankenship. Katelyn is a very active student at Nacogdoches High School. She is a member of the NHS Tennis team, a STUCO class officer, a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the student response team, and a member of the students of color organization.

Katelyn said she is motivated by the support of her mother, the encouragement she receives from participating in athletics, and the many NHS teachers who have encouraged and inspired her throughout her high school career.

Katelyn plans to attend Sam Houston State University and pursue a degree in criminal justice. Upon completing her degree she plans to pursue a career in law enforcement with her ultimate goal of becoming a state trooper. When asked what advice she would she give other students she said to always give your best, do your work, follow the rules because it makes things easier, and to go with the flow.

Katelyn said she would like to be remembered as a kind person who always wants to and looks for opportunities to help others.
